LION'S CLUB

Denver City Lions Club is an organization here in Denver City committed to public service and community projects. There are about 15 active members that meet at least once a week. Local club meetings are at Seller's Steakhouse at noon every Tuesday during the school year and members of the public are welcome to participate and become a member.

There are presentations at most of our weekly meetings; the presentations are made by individuals or organizations in and around our community. For example, past presentations have included an architect giving a presentation about new construction by the Denver City ISD and a member of the ground-water district discussing the local water supply and water-related projects.

The local Lions club has a few different fundraisers throughout the year. In the fall, they conduct a hamburger cookout during a home football game. In the spring, members have a broom sell (for spring cleaning). The money raised helps fund our local boy-scout troop, different scholarships and other community-improvement projects. If you are aware of a need in our community, we hope you approach our Lion's Club to give us the opportunity to help!

For further information, contact local club President, Will Masters, at (806)592-3536 or will@westtexlaw.com.

ROTARY CLUB

Rotary International is a world wide service organization of Business Leaders, that functions through local clubs throughout the world.
The Denver City Rotary Club is part of District 5730 which is comprised ofcommunities throughout the Panhandle down to the Trans-Pecos area.

Locally we meet each Wednesday at Noon at Sellers Steakhouse, and we currently have several projects that help our local community.
Our fundraising project is an annual golf tournament, which is a 4 person scramble at the Yoakum County Golf Course, and is scheduled for May 18th, at 10:00 a.m.

Through the golf tournament, we are able to fund two projects, which consists of 2 scholarships per year for Denver City High School Students, which are $2,000.00 scholarships paid over a 4 year period, with certain criteria that must be met each year.
Our second project is the warmth for winter program, which we do in conjunction with the Denver City EMS, in which we donate electric heaters to needy families in our local area.

The Rotary Club motto is Service Above Self, and throughout the many years since the Denver City Rotary Club was established, this motto is very true and evident in the various projects that have been done each year.

The Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at Seller's Steakhouse on W. Broadway. The organization is open to anyone who wishes to join. For more information, contact Doug Brown at 806/592-9292 or mail to:  browndoug1983@yahoo.com.
